In the new generation of Unico, we’ve replaced the ratchet wheel click with a unidirectional winding mechanism for a quieter, gentler, more reliable experience. We have also patented a new index-assembly system with greater elastic geometry, allowing for extremely precise friction adjustments for even greater accuracy. Two granular improvements that mean magnitudes of change.

Braced for impact

New innovation to the Unico movement means the ability to withstand significant impact without disrupting the time display, rendering Unico watches extremely durable. The first manufacture movement of its kind, the new Unico calibre circumvents vibrational shock through innovation to the cannon pinion which protects the structural integrity of the watch and ensures longevity and accuracy.

Horological engineering presents a unique set of challenges. In building chronographs, designers must efficiently transfer energy between vertical and horizontal clutches while avoiding jolting starts or quivering hands. We crafted the new Unico calibre to overcome these hurdles, carving an exceedingly simple clutch mechanism that is both practical and instantly recognizable—so much that we designed around the component to expose its elegant functionality on the face.

The dual-clutch architecture that drives the hands of the chronographs, patented designs pit ceramic ball bearings against jewels in a carefully choreographed balance of force to ensure unrivalled accuracy as an oscillating weight winds the mainspring.
